Walk and talk therapy is a perfect opportunity for the client and therapist to walk together during therapy at an agreed place. This alternative therapy combines the benefits of fresh air and exercise into therapy.

What are some of the benefits of walk and talk therapy?

  • Getting out of the office is good for the mind and body
  • Rhythmic exercise such as walking can be helpful to the process of self-discovery
  • Mood improving physical activity may create deeper ways of thinking
  • Face to face interaction can cause anxiety whereas walking side by side with the distraction of the environment may allow for easier engagement
  • Fresh air and physical fitness.
  • Teenagers feel more comfortable walking alongside a therapist rather than sitting in a formal environment across from one another.
  • Some teenagers have trouble sitting still and this is a perfect way to release anxiety through movement.
  • Movement helps to process thoughts easily and helps improve depressed states.

Is Counselling Confidential?

During the initial contact the counsellor will be required to collect and record relevant personal information. This is kept highly confidential. Notes are taken during the session and kept confidentially.
All information will be kept confidential unless:
a) Subpoenaed by a court.
b) Information disclosed that places yourself or another at risk.
c) Your signed consent will be required before:
  • Discussing with another person such as parent, doctor or employer, or
  • Providing a written report to another professional agency, or
  • Referring to another agency

How Much and How Long Are The Sessions?

Payment is made by direct deposit prior to session. I do not send accounts for private clients.

How Many Counselling Sessions Will I Need?

This depends on your needs and the reason for coming to counselling. Generally four sessions are sufficient however that is reviewed and increased if needed.

Is There A Cancellation Fee?
